The pope's thong

The first email I opened in work this morning was from 'Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells' complaining about the church movie notices last Sunday. I'd included a photo of thongs with images of the pope on them. In retrospect I should have realised that it would be a thong too far for some people. (I don't know if it were the thong, the pope or the combination that did the upsetting.)

But what gets me is that people who write to complain seldom write to compliment.

However I am suitably chastised and will do better in future.

Oh for G**s sake Liz, please don't feel chastised or guilty that these small minded folk can't see the bigger picture!

I'm trying to picture the pope with a thong...no, please, I'd rather not. I'll just give up on imagining what these notices were all about:) So true that people are more quick to complain, but rarely praise.

My grandchildren went home after spending several day's with us, so I'm just now having some blog time. Tell your daughter that if she waits too long to make you a Grandma, you won't have the energy to watch the grandkids when she wants:)

Cheers to you for getting so far in your novel! I hope George provided some advice on the sex scene:) And good luck with your backyard--I've been waiting for nearly 5 years for Husband to replace patio doors:)

No chastising allowed (or aloud)! The whole idea of a pope-thong boggles the mind - and adds laughter to the day. Wonder what kind of thong your complainer wears? The ABC? John the Baptist (I suspect he was a thong-wearer, anyway)? Mother Teresa? Keep 'em comin', Liz!

Now, I'm really hoping against hope that that English English vs. American English thing kicks in here because a thong is no longer what it wwas when I was a kid when mentioned here in the States...
