What you may ask - I did - is the justification for a film critic having his own brand pickled onions? Well, thanks to the wonder that is the web, I can tell you that it is his own recipe, passed down from mother to child through the generations from about the mid-nineteenth century. They even have their own website, Pickleodeon. (I like that!)
But I didn't buy them. They'd have to be pretty special to better Garner's.

And would you have to pay more because of his name of the jar?
Hmmm. I wouldn't know what to do witha pickled onion.
I agree with you Liz, love Garners pickled onions!!
I would have had to do a taste test if only to prove that my favorite brand really was the best. Who knows, maybe they are better. Go on... I dare you to try them. ;)
Always look before you buy. And take a photo if you can.
They might be worth a try for comparison ;-)
I make my own pickled shallots... you are welcome to bite one anytime...
Goodness me !
Gosh! I could have been making a small fortune selling my pickled onions (great grandparents recipe) that I share with friends for free. They are known as Hot Sodzz.
Well, that's nice, but pickled onions are one of my least favourite foods.
Leslie, I didn't lok at the price.
Katney, eat it with cheese and bread for a ploughman's lunch, or cold meats or anything really!
Anne, we have good taste.
Elsie, hm, maybe!
Cheshire wife, I'm normally on automatic pilot when I'm in Sainsburys so it's a wonder I noticed these at all.
Cherrypie, hm, maybe!
Mutley, why thank you, I'll be round later.
Hello, welshcakes, yes it was unexpected.
DD, that's how Mr Norman started ...
They are an acquired taste, puss.
How funny, I can't see the connection between Barry Norman and pickled onions either. It's not as if they are on sale in the cinema foyers, or at least, not in the one I visited last night to see Mama Mia.
Although partial to a pickled onion from time to time, you just can't separate me from a jar of pickled eggs!!
Surely you couldn't take them to the movies though! Imagine how unsocialble that would be :)
I consulted with a panel of pickled onion-eating experts here, and they all asked 'Who is Barry Norman'?
Hmm they would make a welcome alternative to popcorn!
Have to get some of these. Do they come with free film critiques?
I do a mean pickled onion, though not for the weak! LOL!
