Our camera is broken so I couldn't take a photo for this week; I did, however, find this photo in my box. I didn't take it (obviously!) but my great-aunt is fourth from the right on the back row. It's Oystermouth Church of England School, 1916. There are some pretty old-fashioned clothes being worn!

I just love old photos like this Liz.....this one's a beauty. Look at those children and their outfits...what a nice keepsake. Thanks Liz.
I have photos like this too, but it's me in them, not my great aunt! All the girls wore dresses, actually I remember even my daughter had to wear a dress in the beginning but it changed not long after she started school.
Have a great weekend.
I can remember having to wear skirts to school, too. I think that era (of your photo) had the most unflattering fashions, though. I'm so glad for jeans and tees now.
Ah yes, those old photos. What would we do without them?
Isn't amazing to look back and compare with today? Fashions, hairstyles, even backgrounds...life progresses, too fast sometimes.
What a fabulous old pic. My mum has a lot of images like that, but from the 1930's and 1940's. Have a lovely weekend!
P.S. Where's the sun gone? I thought it was too good to be true.
wow!
i love old photos and I keep them so the next generation can still view their roots.
happy weekend!

I love the old photos. It's wonderful that your family has preserved them!
JMB, I remember the first time my mother bought us pants. My father just about had a stroke. They were red, yellow and blue (primary colored) floral print corduroy bell bottoms.
1916....ya, that's old fashioned. I love these old photos.
Mine is posted, I hope you can drop by. I love visitors. Happy weekend.
I love old pictures like that. Thanks for sharing.
1916!! That's really old! They look soo prim and proper in the picture. It's hard to get a class picture nowdays without one or two students making funny faces! :P
Its Not a Weekend;It's a Lifestyle

What a wonderful photograph. Perfect for the theme.
I love that photo...it's perfect for the theme....I see you live in Wales...my brother and his wife and son are in Wales for a year. My sister in law is a teacher and she has gone there on a teacher exchange program...my brother is a psychiatric nurse....he has been sending many pictures home....we have lots of family in England and hence they have visited there...and spent Christmas touring Ireland and Scotland....I have been to England and Scotland but never Wales or Ireland...maybe one day....but I am enjoying Wales via my brothers photos....
Lovely school photo Liz, and great family history.
Wonderful photo. It's so good to have these pieces of family (and social) history.
I'm glad you've kept your fireplace. We've been guilty of tearing one out :( It was so many years ago, it just seemed exactly that - old fashioned. Now of course it would be a period item.
I loe the photo Liz. A great choice for this week's theme
I, too, love photos like this.
my my, the good old days...
Oh wow, I love old photos! In fact my photo hunt this week also features an old-fashioned photo!
Isn't that my great aunt's second cousin's mother's sister in law third from the left?

Great choice of pic for this week's Photo Hunt!
