Around Gower on a quilt

As I said, we have several quilting groups that meet at Linden. Swansea Quilters recently won first prize in a national competition, for a group entry, which is now hanging on the wall inside the church building. It's a collection of individual quilted 'postcards' from Swansea and Gower, so come, take a tour of our beautiufl area.

Liz, what a fabulous quilt and video. I loved the beach huts, such a British institution. Each square was beautiful and I would love to come visit, not likely but thanks for sharing this

Incredible! Some of those quilts are so real looking.

I love the name Mumbles for a place name...most intriguing.

BTW, commiserations on the loss to Australia. It was a pretty close game until...um...that...um last little contretemps!

That is absolutely beautiful. I am sitting here crying as it made me all nostalgic! I like the very first "postcard" best. What is the music? I should know...

Debussey's 'Girl with the flaxen hair', Welshcakes.

The whole thing looks even better in real life. The quilters are a very talented bunch. And they smell nice! When they are in the hall, it smells of middle-class women and cake!

I like the beach huts too, jmb. They can be rented from the council but there are huge waiting lists.

I don't know where the name Mumbles comes from, Robyn. I have heard various stories; I'll google and see what I can find out.

This was easily the best-produced YouTube video I've seen - well done Liz. Superb quilting too. Very evocative.

Even if I did at first think I was going to see Ian Gower, the ex-England cricketer, stretched out on a quilt...

By the way, Shirl meant DAVID Gower. Ian Gower was the bloke who started to teach me the guitar a couple of years ago.
