The Lacing Ceremony


An extra helping of brandy for the wedding cakes. Next week I shall marzipan them. With maybe just a splash of brandy for flavour before I start.

Yes, Joy, very excited! It is creeping up ... quickly! It seemed like ages; now it's just three weeks away.

Sadly in North America we don't do fruit cakes for wedding cakes. I wanted to make one for my daughter's wedding and she looked at me as I was crazy. Carrot cakes, sponge things, how the heck do you put them under the pillow? And they're right mouldy for the baptism of your first child!
