Oh, shoot, pancakes aren't fattening. And listen, I got sidetracked yesterday and failed to comment, but the photos of you are gorgeous! I don't see why you can't have a whole stack of pancakes if you want them.
Liz, I would love to add you to my Blogroll if you don't mind...that way I can find you easily as time goes on because I KNOW I'll be visiting regularly. You're a treasure, and I find your site so interesting! Thanks for visiting...I hope you have a wonderful day! Alas, pancakes is another food I've been unable to eat for years, but my Dad used to make some of the best in the world! Light and fluffy! An occasional Saturday morning treat we loved!
How did giving up Spider go?? I am considering it (I know I'm a day late), as I am becoming far too proficient for my own good (and my essays aren't!). Happy Ash Wednesday xx (unless it's just a Catholic things?)
Clare, it was a struggle but I managed it. Six weeks can be a very long time! I did it because I was spending far too much time on it to the detriment of everything else. In fact I think I might give up Solitaire (my current addiction) from right now!

What, pray, is pancake day? Can you give us some of the history and cultural background please?
Hi, Liz. I love pancakes but it's not the tradition here on Shrove Tues [Carnival day] so I sympathise! No one can make them like my Mum did, anyway!

Bother, I clean forgot about pancakes!

@Clare,
thankyou.
I can't believe you don't know what pancake day is, Stu!
I've always understood it to be, as Lent starts the next day, a way to use up all the milk and eggs and flour before the strict regime of Lent.
Which reminds me: what am I giving up for Lent? (Old Christian tradition of doing without.) Last year I gave up Spider Solitaire.
Thank you, Serena!
Welshcakes, I find that if I accept the fact that the first one will be rubbish, the rest are fine.
I had a couple for you, Liz, with maple syrup and grilled bacon on the side! :)
