I'm sorry about your disappointment, Liz, but I do so admire you for having the courage to try. I'm sure someone will have the sense to say "Yes" to you one day.
Just "knocking on doors", Liz. That's what I did and out of the blue one day a few weeks ago, I received a phone, much to my surprise, from a newspaper up in north Queensland who wanted my article...no dealing, no negotions...they wanted it. I sat in stunned shock with my mouth ajar for a day after that call, I think! ;) So, don't give up...if it can happen to me...it will happen to you.
I've been writing a weekly article for the local little 'rag' up here on the mountain...but this new deal with the northern paper is a bit of a blast! They are food articles with a lot of silly dribble included! lol
I know that feeling, Liz. I reckon I could paper my walls with rejections. However, even if I only get one yes every couple of years, it outweighs all the noes.
Aw, I'm sorry, Liz. I know you're disappointed. Go buy yourself some chocolate tomorrow, and then keep on submitting your article elsewhere. Keep your chin up, because someone is eventually going to give you a big YES.
Make sure you have creative commons on your blog page somewhere. It isn't essential but will help in the fight if you find people have been ripping off your postings.
There simply not worthy of your talents! Don't worry for every no.. there's a yes! Has to be.. way of the World you know.. Yin/Yang! It's coming. I am praying! All the best! ~M
Thank you all for your commiserations. The reason I was particularly disappointed is that the mag had expressed an initial interest and asked for some 'recce' photos. I got that sorted only for them to decide it wasn't what they wanted.
Never mind. I have been to Borders today and bought another couple of magazines that might possibly be markets for this feature. I am convinced it is a good idea.
