Glimmers

Finally managed to track down a human who knew straightaway what I was talking about when I told him about the letter I'd received from Legal and General. Turns out it is legit. There is an unclaimed policy in Uncle's name.

I will now be contacted by the assessors who will do whatever has to be done and I will get some money. Still don't know how much. Today we're going to Slice for lunch for an early anniversary celebration, so I'm hoping the payout may just cover it! (Yes, it's an expensive restaurant but my favourite and we only go once or twice a year.)

We decided we'd put a picture quiz on tables for the barn dance barbecue tomorrow to get people working together so I've spent some time looking for suitable quizzes. You would not believe how many are available!

I decided not to have a famous people picture quiz because those tend to depend on how up you are with current celebrities. In other words, I can't do them. Instead I'm printing out - or rather trying to print out because my printer is playing up - a dingbats quiz and a chocolate quiz! Perhaps you'd like to try them.

A friend posted about glimmers on Facebook yesterday. You know those little sometimes unexpected moments that suddenly lift your spirits.

I thought about glimmers this morning when I was brushing my hair. I'd had the same hairbrush for as long as I could remember, a plastic-pronged thing with more prongs missing than present, when GrandDaughter1 said I had to get a new one! I wasn't bothered; I have short hair, not much to brush; it served its purpose. But she insisted so I did some research and bought a new one.

And now every time I use it it makes me happy. It's a glimmer in my day.

  1. #2 is a Crunchy bar and #5 is a Kit-Kat, that's the only two I recognize.

  4. I did better than usual on the words quiz thingy, but not so well on the chocolate bars, surprisingly.

    1. An old brush is fine if it works for you, Cathy.

  6. No idea of any of the chocolate. I hope no recent immigrants are going to be asked to do these! Or people who can't afford candy. I nerd yo look at the word puzzle to figure out what it's asking me to do. Not doing well today.

    1. Need to, not that weird stuff that appeared there.

    2. The only immigrants were white business people from South Africa. Sadly we're struggling to get in many from the community. We must persevere.

  7. my facial recognition skills are weak.... but i did pretty well on the chocolate bars..... one or two of the dingbats eluded me but that's a good balance, you don't want everyone getting 100%.... i love that you love your hairbrush..... sometimes we "put up" with minor inconveniences for years when a simple upgrade could give us so much pleasure..... glimmer on good buddy, glimmer on!!

    1. When I chose the quizzes I wanted one that was a bit of a challenge but not too much! Like you say, I didn't want everyone to get 100%.

  8. I wouldn't be able to do a famous people quiz unless they were older celebrities.
I think I got most of them right on the second quiz. Maybe only half of the chocolate.

    1. Yes, it's only older proper celebrities I recognise - and then I can't remember their names!
