Remember those fat balls?
And the way I said I might have got carried away when 150 turned up? Well, we're getting through them faster than anticipated. But not for the right reason.
Yes, Mr Squirrel is taking them whole.
The only birds benefiting are the magpies who swoop in on the bits Mr Squirrel scatters liberally over the ground.
Squirrels.... so cute.... yet also so aggravating! :)
I do not know how common it is in England, but here where I live in the U.S. there is a whole "industry" of squirrel barriers designed to keep squirrels from accessing bird feeders. Some of them are extremely elaborate. Some purport to keep squirrels out, but most are attempts to divert their attention. One that I find fun.... and it actually gives the squirrel food as well and has them become "circus performers" of a sort is:

Have you ever seen these before in your region? They tend to love the dried corn too... just about as much if not more than other foods.
