'You disgust me.'

I don't think  I've ever knowingly aroused such strong feelings. I've been laughed at and ignored but causing disgust?

It all started on FaceBook, of course.

A friend had posted a video of families with children on the Mexico border being tear-gassed. He'd asked the question, 'Supporters of Trump please explain how this is okay.'
My comment was, 'Trump supporters have an answer for everything.'

I didn't think I was being that offensive but apparently I'm instigating hate.

What can I say? (Nothing. I'm not getting into a war with anyone.)

I guess he took that the wrong way, eh?

I guess the statement was so succinct that it unfortunately could be potentially misconstrued by a reader in a myriad of ways. If I may ask, who was upset by your comment? Was it the fellow who posted the border image? Or, was it a commenter to that image?

Your friend might find 'Trump supporters have an answer for everything.' upsetting I guess, if he thought you were saying the supporters have a LEGITIMATE answer for everything.

A Trump supporter might find 'Trump supporters have an answer for everything.' as being sarcastic and trying to start a flame war.

So, I can understand your worry.... it is sometimes far too easy for folks to misconstrue another's intent. It would hurt a great deal to receive a comment of "You disgust me." from anyone, so I sympathize.

I can say that I find your writings and your ideas to be valuable and interesting and helpful, and I suspect that is how the VAST MAJORITY of folks feel as well. I am very glad I have been able to read your ideas! Thank you.

As for the border image your friend posted... I presume it is similar to several I have seen as well. In my opinion, the current treatment by the President of the U.S. of the refugees and other potential immigrants is horribly sad and horribly wrong.

Not finding you, Liz, or any of your postings "disgusting", such a comment is a puzzlement. Had someone left me such an evaluation, my go to response would likely be, "Why, thank you, very much!" along with a private giggle.

I can't see how your comment could provoke that sort of a response!

Altogether too odd to worry about. Anyone who'd read anything else you've ever written would know how you'd feel about children and their parents being tear-gassed, let alone about Trump.

It was a commenter who posted that response, PT. In fact most of the commenters were defending the treatment or more specifically doubting the veracity - fake news - or the motivation of a woman taking her child into a dangerous situation.

Debra, Copcar, Cherrypie and Sonata, indeed. I'm not worried by it, just amazed.

I don't do FB much anymore and I don't make comments.

Your rational reply --to a rhetorical question-- goes right over the heads of Trump supporters, whose brains should be examined by a competent proctologist.

Probably wise, polly.

I thought it was rational and indeed factual, Geo.
