A glut of tomatoes - decreasing more slowly since Husband hasn't been around to help eat them - resulted in last night's dinner: roasted tomato and thyme soup.

A bit too garlicky (Husband's view) and not quite right (mine). Trouble is, I never expected it to be brilliant. I grew up on Heinz tomato soup and I like it like that. Maybe if the tomatoes had had more sun and been sweeter and it wasn't so late in the season it might have been better. Never mind, at least we don't have so many in the kitchen now.

I made tomato soup for Small Sprog when he was poorly and that was his exact comment, you can't beat Heinz!
Yours looks much nicer than tinned though :-)
You need brown sugar on the tomatoes when you roast them and then sieve the soup and add a bit of milk at the end, much more like Heinz that way!!
