Surrogate granny
Daughter tells me that her friend's mother, who lives in the same village, has offered to look after GrandDaughter for a couple of afternoons a week so Daughter can get back to work.

I'm in awe of your generosity of spirit .
And GrandDaughter will always have that gorgeous happy beam for you .... you're her Granny !!!
I know how you feel. When my daughter went back to work, I tried to figure out a way that I could look after hers so I could be the exclusive gramma. *sigh* But GS went to a home daycare and now GD is cared for by her Daddy as he's not working right now. But every time I see them, they reassure me with their hugs and kisses!
Grandmothers are not replaced. There is room for as many as are available, and I am sure that when you are available, that "extra Granny" (that's what we called them) will step back and give youa ll the time you want.
It's a battle, Sonata!
I'm sure they do, leslie.
I know, katney. I just want to be with her all the time!!!
I am not yet a real Granny but I am a step-grandma and will see all 5 grandsons soon. In reality, I don't know them well but I DO care enough for them to tell me they love me on the phone. Let's see if they still do when they see me...
I perfectly understand Liz!
It is really fine Liz ... I think it is so lovely for them all. Your daughter can get back to work, and your granddaughter will have some company with the other little girl.
I hardly see my grandchildren .. but they have never forgotten me ..
SDCrafts .. those 5 grandsons will see you as Granny , not Step granny ..
