My grandfather served in the first world war. He survived a bullet going straight through his chest and lived until he was 84.
On the back of this postcard is the address of a Parisian photographer so from that I assume he was on leave in Paris when it was taken. My grandfather is seated.

I had a look at the Photohunt theme this week, because I've been thinking about joining in, but I didn't think I could contribute anything to this one.
Silly me, and clever you! Of course, I have pictures of my father, grandfather, uncles, cousins and even great-grandfather in military uniforms! Well done. :)
Our grandparents were tough, weren't they? Your grandfather survived a bullet through the chest and lived till his eighties, mine suvived being gassed in the first world war, and kicked in the chest by a mule (invalided out because of that injury) and also lived till his eighties.
What a great shot to have of your grandfather. That's so fortunate that he survived the bullet.
He was a tough old bird and very lucky indeed.
Great photo Liz. Have a happy weekend.
How wonderful to have this picture of your grandfather. He was very lucky. You are lucky to have his pic!
My PH. Happy weekend and happy hunting!
My grandfather survived WW1 as well, but the gassing he experienced along with the horrors of the war caused a shortened life, with him having a heart attack and dying in his early 50's. Glad yours had a good long life.
Great choice for the theme Liz. My grandfaterh was very lucky.. he was take prisoner in August 1914 and spent over 4 years as a prisnoer in Germany! Happy weekend

Wow re what you just told us about your grandfather! Sounds like he had quite the life! :)
Great choice for the theme! Using your family photos and history you bring a deeper meaning to historical events. Good for you that you dare to use your personal photos. I'm glad your grandfather survived!
Happy Weekend!

What a robust man! That was a great nostalgic shot. My granddad was part of WW2 and the stories he told were pretty awesome. Great take for the theme! :))

wow! I'm impressed with your grandpa! he's tough! it's really nice that you have picture of him. I don't have pictures of my paternal grandparents. happy weekend!
What a wonderful memento to have of your grandfather.
Was he lucky !! I am against anything concerning wars, soldiers and veterans. I think we have suffered enough.
People should live in peace, without soldiers no war, that's my opinion.
Put the politicians in a ring and let them fight.
EXCELLENT!!!!
One of MY favorite Veterans is on my post this week. Come see him if you have some time.

What an awesome keepsake. I'm sure you treasure the photo and the memory. Where would we be without men like your grandfather? This is my first visit to your blog but I doubt it will be my last. Keep up the good work!
