Dinner tonight

We had sea bass on tomato salsa with lightly-cooked courgettes. Husband complained that:
he doesn't like courgettes cooked like that;
the bass was cold and tasteless;
I'd bought him some nice bread but no butter to go with it.
I felt a Gordon Ramsey moment coming on.

Do you mean he doesn't like anything cooked al dente? I love food like that, it always has more flavour and texture than the horribly cooked-to-death vegetables my mum always produced (and which was standard British restaurant fare when I was growing up).

It wasn't so much that, nick, as he prefers them fried in olive oil. Talking of over-cooked food, remember school dinners?

He complained... :S!?!?!

I once commented that there was a bit too much Worcester Sauce in the hot pot... I just lived to tell the tale and it took about 5 years before Mrs F would cook it again... and I really like Hot Pot...

I don't complain much - I find it best to be grateful it was cooked for me

My school dinners weren't too bad, I went to a couple of private schools where the food was actually quite edible, if predictable and unimaginative.

I gather a lot of hospital meals are still disgusting reheated pap.
