Today George and I took a path we'd walked many times before - but we went in the opposite direction.Now George has many admirable qualities but a pioneering spirit? No. he walked behind me.
I said, 'You should be leading the way, forging a trail.'
'It's okay; I'm happy following you.'
'What if there are injuns up ahead and they attack me with their bows and arrows?'
'Then I need to be behind you so I can go and get help.'
'Do you know your way out of the woods?'
George paused and had a little think. 'Alternatively, I'll sit by your bleeding body and howl.'
'That's kind of you.'
'I thought so. Does it deserve a treat?' He looked at me, his head on a tilt, his eyes big and brown.
'No!'
Be glad he follows instead of leads, it means he knows who is boss! ;-)
ReplyDeleteOf course, to a dog EVERYTHING deserves a treat! Especially to my dog. And she usually gets one because she is so very spoiled.
Devotion definitely needs a treat!!
