Bring me sunshine

While we were in Surrey we received news that a good friend, Mike, had died. He and his wife Janet had been on holiday in Lanzarote and were preparing to travel home the next day when it happened.

About twenty years ago Mike had a brush with death - several actually - when he had septicaemia. He was in hospital for months and has never really been fully well since. But that didn't stop him living the best life he could. He and Janet loved their holidays and even though he'd been unwell prior to going this time he'd insisted.

Mike had lots of interests - drumming, music, Swansea Football Club, fishing - and was involved in lots of village projects as well as church stuff. But my main memories of him are of a funny man. Mike was a great one for telling jokes, and telling stories that I would have told boringly in two minutes that he made last for twenty minutes, keeping his audience entertained throughout.

He was never without a smile, and in exercise class on Monday this music was played and it feels it should have been Mike's theme song.

I'm sorry to hear of your friend's death. Good that he made the most of his time. I absolutely loved Morecambe & Wise. I love your t-shirt, was it true to size?

I loved Morecambe and Wise too. Still quote them. Yes, the t-shirt was true to size. The measurements the site gives were accurate.
