Is it him or me?

We have two small green food waste recycling boxes in the kitchen. We have two larger green food waste recycling boxes outside the back door.

Indoors, one is for teabags, coffee grinds, and fruit and veg peelings that Husband can add to the compost heap; the other is for cooked foods and bones. Ditto the outdoors bins. Except I didn't know that.

The other day Husband stopped me at the back door. He lifted the lid of one of the identical bins. 'What's that in there?' he said.
'Um, food waste?'
'It's in the wrong bin.'
'What?'
'It's in the wrong bin. Those are peelings. They should be in the compost bin.'
'I didn't know there was an outside compost bin.'
'Why did you think we've got two bins here then?'
'Happenstance?'

He says he told me. Just like he says he told me about the right and wrong places to store computer files.

One of us is either getting forgetful or doolally. I'm not taking bets on either or whom.

Maybe you need labels on the lids? I would want them. :-)

I think that's the best idea!

I had never heard the word "doolally" before. I like it, and will plan to incorporate in my speech!

I love the two bin regime. Perfectly sensible, I know, but I'm left with the idea of a sort of Hyacinth Bucket "better sort of recycled waste".

Do, PT! And let me know if you succeed.

What I really need, sonata, is a decorative cover for my outside bins. There must be a catalogue that sells them ...

Look on Ravelry ... maybe you'll find a pattern to knit or crochet one? I'm sure you'd be able to find the time. Or there's Lakeland Plastics?
Or you could just find yourself muttering 'barebins' as you wander into the kitchen to make another coffee....
