Fitness freak

George went for a walk with Nuora and his best friend, Willett, on Friday so I decided to take advantage of having a free (of course I could have been cleaning ...) morning and walk to the library.

Not a bad way to get to the library
Going there was fine; coming back into the wind that was howling and the sand that was swirling was a little tougher until I left the beach and went onto the prom. Where they have a fitness trail! Needless to say I had to have a go at some. Well, at those I could work out what to do with.

This was my favourite. You stand on it and sort of swing back and for - at least that's what I did. Very good for the hip joints I'm sure.

This one ... maybe to have a rest on?

And fun as it is to pretend to be a bus driver there's only so long you want to do it if you're not actually sitting upstairs in the front seat of a bus.
And as I crossed the threshold upon reaching home my Fitbit on my wrist buzzed excitedly as I'd reached 10,000 steps.

They have something like this in the park in Daventry, Northamptonshire , where my youngest son lives. Excellent idea.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Just about to go for our morning walk on the beach - much rather do that than anything at a gym.

I saw this last photo on your Facebook page, and I thought it must be part of a children's playground:) Kudos to you for getting in so many steps each day! I got a summary from Fitbit the other day showing that I put in more steps last year than 50% of other Americans. Considering I only had my Fitbit for 6 months last year and rarely got in 10,000 steps, that means there are a lot more American couch potatoes than I thought!

The weather's been so ghastly lately that I think my legs are atrophying . I wonder if I could hire one of these ...

It is a good idea, Anne. Doesn't take up a lot of space and it's free.

Me too, Mrs N!

I'm sure we're fitter than we think we are, rose!

You're right, Sonata, the weather is so grey and miserable. I wonder if it will ever end.

Unfortunately there are no such exercise machines in my local park. There are some on the Stormont Estate but that's about 30 minutes walk away so I don't go there very often. But I do have some regular leg exercises to keep my leg muscles in shape.
