Beauty in the rubbish

Flowers growing on what used to be the old council tip at Clyne.

Did you used to suck clover 'petals'? I'm not sure why exactly but I think it was supposed to be a source of 'honey'. I never tasted anything remotely sweet about it though.

I used to suck honeysuckle and they do have a sweet bit in it. Well I guess the name says it all. I remember as a kid thinking you'd have to suck an awful lot of honey suckle to get a reasonable sweet taste though! :D

Lovely flora! Yes, I used to suck clover and make rose "perfume" from rose petals. :D

Oh yes, rose perfume, leslie!

I think you're right about the quantity, Jenny. I never sucked honeysuckle - going to have to try it now!

No I never did suck clover petals. But there was that thing about putting buttercup under you chin to see if you liked butter or not?!!
