What are the odds?

I bought raffle tickets from a man at the door today. (Don't tell Husband!) But it was a good cause: Ty Hafan children's hospice.

After I'd given him my money I said, 'Not that I'm going to win.'
He replied, 'Everyone says that but someone's got to. Or rather, in this case, 81 someones have to.'

But it won't be me.

One of the women from church runs a weekly lottery based on the national lottery. I don't know how it works but it's a 49 club - or is it 50? So, in theory, once a year I should win. (I don't usually do these things but, like the raffle tickets, it's in a good cause, in this case, a children's village in Zambia.) It's been going since January and some people have won twice.

I don't have to tell you that I haven't won once.

Maybe I'll win both this weekend ...

Church Visitor at the door selling tickets : "Would you like a ticket for the Vicar's Ball?"

Me : "Is it a dance or a raffle?"
