George is poorly

And feeling sorry for himself. But what can you expect when you rummage through the rubbish bin and eat large quantities of old kidney beans?

According to the 'which foods are bad for dogs' website, red kidney beans are poisonous for dogs as well as humans and cause vomiting, diarrhoea and weakness. Yep. The good news is that it should pass in a few hours.

Maybe George'll learn from this experience.

No, I don't think so either.

Poor George, I hope he gets well soon.

Those kidney beans weren't raw were they?

I don't want to worry you but I remember a feature on TV years ago that pointed out raw kidney beans contain ARSENIC.

I don't know if that is true or not, but tell George next time he's better off stealing butter and pooing all night than risking himself with kidney beans

Oh, poor George. I do hope he feels better. I'm always amazed by what doesn't make dogs sick, though. Sophie has eaten so many little green apples that it's almost given me a stomach ache, but her favorite is "litter candy" (which I won't even explain):) Maybe George will learn not to get into the garbage after this...

He does look sorry for himself!

I love DD's comment! lol Poor George will never learn...after all, he's a dawg that loves his food, no matter what! He does look very sorry for himself, though. I remember leaving my boxer Star alone in the house one day (this was years ago when we lived in Ottawa) and I'd left a package of hot cross buns on the counter to thaw. When I got home, the buns were nowhere to be seen, but the plastic bag was on the family room floor. We didn't get to enjoy the buns, but we did have to suffer along with Star as they went through her system! ICK!!! LOL

Red beans have always been great for me and are a staple in Russia.

Fortunately most of it was expelled when George was out in the woods, DD.

Yes, raw kidney beans, gledwood. That's why humans have to make sure they're well-cooked before eating them too.

Do I, jams? I wonder why ...

You're right, rose: it's what doesn't make dogs sick that amazes us most.

oh he was, cherrypie.

they're all the same, leslie.

Strangely enough, sonata, he wasn't smelly but the beans came through his system almost whole so as they weren't digested as such, maybe, they didn't create so much gas.

THanks, simi and welshcakes!

Yes, but you eat them cooked, james.
