I'm having a rant

What do you say to someone who says, 'I feel really bad about letting you down'?

I say, 'It's okay; don't worry about it.'

What I want to say is, 'So you flipping should.'

I'm not perfect (no, honestly, I'm not - I know I may give that impression sometimes ...) but I do try not to let people down if I can avoid it. When I have done it's been for very good reasons. Not because 'I think God is trying to tell me something.'
He might well be but I'm pretty certain it's not that you should let me down.

The person who's caused this rant is actually usually very dependable. I think that's why I'm so annoyed. There are so few people I can rely on to have to cross another off the list is depressing.

A very wise woman once told me: don't depend on anybody and then you won't be let down. At the time I thought it was a very disappointed view of humanity; now I know what she means.

P.S. I realised this must sound very selfish but it's not me that's being let down but something I organise so a whole group of people.

My mode of operation has always been do it myself.

Unfortunately I accumulate a lot of weight with that.

well it does depend on how many times this person has let you down, if it is a few, then you have every right to rant, but if only once, I would be ok with it!! I wouldn't cross them off your list yet!! :-)

I remember someone telling me many decades ago that absolutely nobody is reliable, and how right she was. We all slip up sometimes for one reason or another. If your friend is normally reliable, I wouldn't cross them off your list just yet. If people are reliable most of the time, that's pretty good going.

Depends on why this person let you down?
If it was for a group, this person should have let you know earlier.
So,alternative arrangements could have been made.....
To be let down, is to feel let down....then you feel
disappointed..:-/

This is a tough one.
On the one hand your lady is normally dependable.
On the other she has let you down and you are feeling it at the moment.

Perhaps this time she really did have a good reason and once you get through it, it won't seem so bad.

Don't cross her off just yet, there maybe a good reason.
I'm a bit like NitWit1 and tend to get on with things myself, but it comes at a price.

I hope things get sorted for you.
Much love,
Lia xx

I give everyone 3 chances.. thats it only 3 then I don't want to know. :0)

If she is dependable then maybe she has a good reason. I also tend to get on things myself its easier that way.

It is hard when someone lets you down although this person has only done it once maybe she won't do it again. I try not to depend on anyone if I can help it but sometimes you have to. I especially hate it if I have agreed to meet someone and they are late. I am never late if I am you know I have been in an accident.

Thanks, all, for your comments and support. I'm feeling fine now and we have a group meeting tonight so I'm sure new arrangements can be made then. I understand when there's a genuine problem but I get impatient with the 'God excuse'!

It was a he by the way not a she!

And, like many of you, I usually do things myself or end up standing in for the person who's droped out!

Ah, I had been warned by one that the one I gave a page of the phone list to to call was not reliable. I had been told by another she woudl be good help at such things. Guess who was right.
