Skittles to Ibiza

Younger Son wanted me to send him his driving licence so he can drive the diving school's van around Ibiza. I was on my way to the Post Office when I thought I should put a little something in with it, a little something being two packets of Skittles (small fruity chews). I'd got it all packed up when I thought, 'What if the customs men think this looks suspicious, open it and lose his licence?'

So I sent two separate packages.

I explained to the PO lady and asked if the skittles would cause a problem. 'No, they don't even need a customs declaration,' she said. Then she asked, 'How old is your son?'
'Twenty-four.'
She laughed then said, 'I don't know why I'm laughing; I'd be doing exactly the same.'

One of the boys I use to foster is in Iraq and as he has no familyI am always sending him little bits of home. I sent him a piece of amber sea glass that I found recently and he loves it.
He says it's really special getting little reminders of home, like when I went to Hastings and brought them all a stick of rock and then sent him his. His friends laugh, but it's all in good jest.
Your son will enjoy them all the more for you sending them, so out of the blue.
much love,
Lia xx

After living in Morocco, I sent anything I wanted; if it didn't clear customs...OK. I never sent anything valuable that would be lost if not delivered. However, our mail still went through US mail service on a US military base, not Morrocan mail.

Most things were mailed to my parents.

We never stop being mums :-)

When my son was out in Iraq and the Falklands, we used to send loads of different things out, his favourite are Jelly Beans, we used to send them out.

Like Lia says, all in good jest, but they like reminders from home!
