It's St. Swithin's day

St. Swithin's day if thou dost rain
For forty days it will remain;
St. Swithin's day if thou be fair
For forty days 'twill rain nae mair.

So far so good. It hasn't rained, at least not since I've been up and that's what counts. Although it looks as if it might be saving itself for our walkies.

P.S. The Met Office has put this rhyme to the test and on 55 occasions a wet St. Swithin's day has not been followed by 40 days of rain.

It was bucketing down all night and morning - since lunch though it has been nice and sunny.

So far we have been dry here, it better not rain not a single drop. I will go mad if it does, as we are off on Saturday for our glamping hols (that's glamours camping for those who don't know).

Antway as I reported on my blog it's all the fault of the jet stream, as it is in the wrong place for the time of year, I shouted at it yesterday, so fingers crossed it has been wellk and truely told off.
Mwhahahahahah
much love,
Lia xx

I've heard of St Swithin's Day but never the rhyme. Even the Met Office got in on the act did they? Just goes to show...people can't resist proving things right or wrong, can they?

I don't think it rained here yesterday. However, the sky looks very ominous this morning! LOL!

Jams, we made it through but today is NOT good.

they are, James.

So perhaps 20 days of rain, ackworth?

Have a wonderful time glamping, Lia. I hope for both our sakes that your telling-off was effective.

Just pretend it didn't, cherrypie.

I didn't until I read someone's Facebook comment, welshcakes.

It's a well-known rhyme here, puss.

It's been dreadful here today, jay.
