The flesh is weak

It's very hard being on a diet when you're poorly and all you want is comfort food. Ryvita and hummus is all very well but doesn't really fit the bill. So I succumbed and ate a Sainsburys taste the Difference Chocolate and coconut biscuit.

The trouble with succumbing is that once is never enough.

You should have such treats scheduled into your diet plan. If you know you get to have one every--say, week or two weeks, whatever works for you that way--then you can resist on other occasions.

(No, Liz, I didn't say three times a day.)

My American correspondents always find "blue tits" hilarious when I feature them e.g. on "feathery Friday/Saturday"... they don't always seem to believe I'm even telling the truth that that is the name of our commonest garden bird... or that a slighty bigger version is known as the Great Tit..!!

Liz, I'm sorry to hear you're still not feeling well. I was pretty sure I had the swine flu, too, several weeks ago, but I finally got over it. But when I went to see the doctor I discovered I'd actually lost a few pounds! So treat yourself to all the chocolate you want; your body is probably using up lots of calories to fight off infection, and all those antioxidants in chocolate are needed in the fight.

Sorry to hear you are so poorly Liz. I think you deserve a little comfort food. I say that even when I am not poorly!

Get well soon.

I recommend moving as a weight-loss tactic. I was only average weight anyway, and I've lost another 7 pounds in the last two weeks. Must be all the stress of the upheaval.

Note to self - eat lots of Sainsburys chocolate and coconut biscuits....

I think I would just use the phrase, it is very hard to diet. I am still not doing very well with mine!

Oh, katney, you've just reminded me about the Go Ahead caramel bars in the pantry ...

And to you joy.

Easy mistake to make, gleds.

No, you're right, dragonstar.

Caramel bar here I come, welshcakes!

What a good excuse - i mean reason - to eat chocolate, rose!

Thank you, jmb.

It's a bit drastic though, nick. Sainsbury choc and coconut biccies, mmmmmmm.

She's doing very well though, isn't she, furtheron?

It's so hard, cherrypie!
