Speak to me!

Do I post too often to get many comments? Or are my posts not worth commenting on? Or is there nobody there?

I'm just curious. It won't affect the way I blog, which is my way of emptying my brain, and if someone reads what I write then it's a bonus. But I notice that some people frequently have lots of comments and I'm just a-sitting here and a-wondering.

And a big thank you to those who do comment regularly!

And, what's more, I've just placed my first ever online Sainsburys order!!! I feel very proud of myself. Of course I couldn't bring myself to order fruit and veg because I'm very fussy about that, and I haven't planned the weekend's menu so I couldn't order any meat, and I wouldn't order fish to be delivered. But that's all stuff I can get locally - and it'll be kinder to the environment and my local businesses.

So I think now I deserve to go and watch an episode or two of Grey's Anatomy.

The comments on most of the blogs I visit seem to be down lately!

Ah don't feel sad. Although I haven't commented before I enjoy reading your blog and I linked to you on my blog ages ago.

You ordered chocolate at sainsburies? This is not a comment, just sarcasm ;-)

I read everything you write Liz. I don't always comment because a lot of your subjects are very clever and leave me speechless!

I'm with Wendy. I'm too stupid to say very much. But when has THAT ever shut me up-!!??!!

I have the same problem, Liz. I seem to have plenty of visitors, but few comments. Perhaps a lot of people are now reading blogs via feed readers? I use Google Reader to keep track of all the blogs I read, and I often forget to comment, because all read items disappear from view - and if I get distracted, I forget to go back and comment.

Well, you know you hear from me at least a couple of times a week, but not from every post or even every day. I nearly always have something to say to George. (Hi, George!) But sometimes I simply find it interestingreading but don't have anything to say about it. I don't like to comment unless I have something to say.

Like Cherry Pie says, comments seem to be down quite a bi everywhere. Maybe it's the economy. Or maybe we just don't have anything to say. (I like comments that say something, not just comments for the comments sake.)

Do you have a sitemeter? I have a sitemeter and check it at least once a day. It is very interesting. You can see not just how many visitors you have had but also where from, where they linked from and a few other things. I see quite a few familiar links when I check it that have not commented. I also see what strange things people have googled that took them to me.

I wonder if it is part of the information overload. Sometime back I would regularly get lots of comments on my posts - now hardly any at all. I don't have a reader counter so no idea if anyone is reading or not... too many blogs? the proliferous commenters now all off on Twitter? Who knows.

Cherie's right - the blogosphere is quite down of late.

I think it all has to do with controversy. Blogs that attract a lot of comments tend to be controversial. However I don't think this has anything to do with number of readers.

I must say most of the bloggers I visit only do a post every day or two, sometimes only twice a week. I'd comment more on your posts, Liz, but I'm running to keep up!

As TBR says, something controversial usually gets more comments. Also anything that lots of people can identify with, like bringing up kids or being ill.

Don't change a thing - I like you as you are - however many times a day!

I try to catch up when I can! I enjoy your posts even if I don't comment on all of them. Sometimes it's true I can't keep up with your prolificness - if that's a word! ;-) But don't stop doing it, I think it's great you can post more often than I do!
