ABC Wednesday - X

Another impossible one! Strangely enough there are no Beatles song titles beginning with the letter X. So I'll have to be creative ...

What about an Xtra-special favourite of mine?

No, that doesn't work either as I was trying to think of one this morning and decided I couldn't possibly choose a favourite. I loved the early Beatles songs because they were simple and fun. And, judging by comments I've received, easy to singalong with and remember. Impossible to forget is perhaps more accurate!

As I grew through my teenage years so the Beatles music grew with me, adapting and changing, becoming more varied, more political, more complex - but still wonderful. So that isn't helping. Instead I'll use the time of year and look back and choose Yesterday as my Xtra-special theme for ABC Wednesday.

And if I think back over 2008 the most immediate impression I have of it is that it was the year of the dog. George, who started the year by being scared to leave the garden, and who ended it by being determined to leave the garden by whatever means he can find. So indulge me, please.

They're short films but I don't want to force you to watch them: we're all busy. So I'll add this last photo as well.

Yesterday we walked over Mumbles Hill

Oh, it seems only yesterday he was just a little puppy--they grow up so fast, don't they? I think this is a very appropriate "X" post--at this time of year we think of the past and the yesterdays that have gone by.

Your plans for New Year's Eve sound about as exciting as ours!:)

I did read your rugby post, but knowing about as much about rugby as you probably do about baseball (no offense intended--maybe you know much more about baseball), I didn't leave a comment. I AM very superstitious about my teams, though, and I think you were very wise not to wear the red knickers. Obviously, it worked!

I hope you now haven't used up the letter Y for next week!

BTW There Was the song called "The Legend Of Xanadu" by the impossible named group Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich from the same period.

I suppose that your dog is called George...as a tribute to George Harrison?
I'm sure you'll choose "Yesterday "next week...Maybe I'll choose it too...

I remember seeing these two videos before and absolutely roared (again!) with laughter at the music from "The Great Escape" for the second one. This is a great post for today - looking back. I did one about being eXtremely lucky in love and am looking forward. :D

Ouch! You've used up your 'Y' idea! The photo of your dog is a lovely arrangement.

How does X come into the last one, Liz? The X factor, I suppose. :)

I have no idea what I am going to do as a garden theme X!!!

Of course they had the X factor which is missing from most bands now.

Enjoyable post! Mindst you I can think of plenty of songs - Imagine, Band On the Run, Sweet Sixteen, My Sweet Lord - all by X-Beatles.

George was such a cute pup, and has grown into a very handsome dog, but climbing that fence, I think he must be part goat!

You should go with him to a circus ! I think he will become a star !
We don't do anything for New Year either I just bought little things like sushis some things we don't eat every day and then we will celebrate with champagne and our 5 cats and the TV of course like elderly couples do ! Isn't that a nice program ?
Wish you a happy New Year !!

He was such a sweet baby! I remember a video (I think it might have been he first I saw!) of George on the beach pretending to be Canute.

Now Rune has me singing "Xanadu" as I head off to bed!
