Last year I had the pleasure of making the wedding cake for Elder Son and his bride. The tiers are supported by little wooden sticks that are removed when you cut the cake. Usually.
Fortunately it was Husband who got this bit of wooden stick in his cake! And, yes, he did bite it before finding out.

Normally ice-cream also has it's wooden stick that I normally collected for making an aeroplane model. Hahhaa
