George, don't do that.

I'm beginning to sound a lot like Joyce Grenfell, for those of you who remember her monologues.

After initially seeming to get the idea of going outside for lavatorial purposes, George has now decided it's more comfy to pee on the carpet. In between that and bonking his little doggy toy, Bungle, he's beginning to think his name is George-don't-do-that.
Elder Son paid a flying visit at the weekend. He was in Cardiff for the match so he was able to come and meet George.

Look at those sharp teeth! He looks like a fluffy blonde wolf.

If George is anything like the canines I’ve had in my life, the colder it gets outside the less housebroken they become.

When I was house-training my son's pups they liked to poo as well as pee on the carpet to begin with. I learned something, but bear with me if this is something ALL dog owners know but me! When they'd lift their tails and start to 'hunch' to do their 'duty', I'd hold their tails up, then scoop them up and take them outside. Somehow or other, that stops it in the process 'til I could at least get them out in the grass! Both learned very quickly, I'm glad to say. Now, with Chloe dog here permanently, she rarely ever has an accident tho last week when I turned on the vacuum when no one else was home it stressed her so badly I found a nice little turdy in the middle of the living room when I finished, HA! Vacuums TERRIFY her! Send George on over...I'd love to have another wee one to train again. Then I'll send him home and his name will become "George-you-darling-fellow-you!" ;-P

That's a good tip, kris. I've been grabbing him and throwing him out but not tried the tail up bit. Although disturbing him seems to put him off anyway!

He'd better not, Nick!

Well, Liz, I think Nick is right 'cuz my Robbie learned very quickly that when the weather was bad, he'd just quietly go into a corner or under the dining room table rather than let me know he needed out. SO maddening! And that was when he was all grown! Best of luck with the training!

Leslie, i didn't know about your dog, i'm sorry. A similar thing happened to my dog when I was a teenager. He was uncontrollable.

But George is a Golden Retriever and they are notoriously soft - and stubborn! I shall keep you informed.
