Finally! ...

Arriving at Boots opticians for my appointment this afternoon I discovered they were offering free eye tests to the over 50s.

The first - as far as I can recall - time that being over 50 has been of benefit. Getting something free!

Admittedly I have had free mammograms since being 50 but, while they're undoubtedly beneficial, I refuse to think of them as a benefit.

Of course the downside is that the only reason these things are free is that over 50s are more likely to have problems. But my eyes at least are very healthy. I have to have new glasses but I was expecting that, and not only because my current ones are missing an arm. I've noticed their increasing ineffectiveness. I've had them a good few years: they must be getting worn out.

I must say something: your posting is coming out VERY SMALL on this computer I'm 15 years away from 50 and I'm peering like a mouse... but I do think it is this specific computer as my comments are all looking tiny tonight far smaller than usual.

Unless I've got some "lilliputian" thing going on!

Hey I'm s'prised anyone's that generous to give you a free eye test when they absolutely don't have to in this day and age!

(I know why they DO do it tho! Because nearly ALL over 50s need glasses for reading and they think if they can up your prescription they'll get the money out of you that way!!)

I find your font unbelievably small too Liz. I can make it larger but somehow I don't, just peering like Gleds does. LOL

Since discovering on my new Vista program that I can magnify just about any print, size of font doesn't bother me in the least, ha! But if our phone book makers had to make their phone books in a font size I can read even WITH glasses, the thing would be 10,000 pages long and thick as 10 bricks, hahahaha! I need to get in for both a mammogram and to have my eyes examined. Seems like I'm doing my driving strictly by memory now instead of by sight...not good, eh. My driver's license expires at the end of December so I better boogie! And my mammogram should've been done in February but I can't seem to find the time to get it scheduled. My doctor wanted it done before my next biopsy in October so I guess I better boogie there too. Trouble is, I'm too pooped to boogie. Sigh....

I just made my font larger on my blog since the print looked too small to me!
