It seemed like a good idea at the time

We bought Harvey a new bed for Christmas.

His old one was looking very tatty (to say nothing of poohed-upon). I paid lots of money for a lovely, comfy, fluffy one for him to snuggle down in over the long winter nights.

There's only one problem.

He can't climb up on it.

His poor old back legs are too weak. Even if he manages to get his front legs up on it and he sits down, he rolls off.

I haven't worked out a solution to the problem yet.

That's a very nice looking bed. I've bought my dog a few, to no avail. She can't understand why she needs one since she already has a very nice bed; namely, mine. LOL.

But -- poor Harvey. What a dilemma, bless his heart. Have you considered "doggie stairs?" I have a set, which will support a dog of up to 70 lbs. I don't know how much Harvey weighs, but they probably are available for larger dogs. Of course, that won't solve the rolling off problem. I hope you figure something out.

How about a ramp?

Ah, poor Harvey. Yes, I'm sure you can get a doggie ramp somewhere!

The trouble is that when he gets on (with help) he can't stand up to get off again either.

So I've worked out a solution: I've washed his old blanket! He can have that back.

awww poor love what a shame - that is such a sad tale - can you take some of the stuffing out maybe to flatten it down a bit.

Give it to your hubby!

Ha! That picture of Harvey next to his new bed makes me laugh - Bailey often opts for the rug rather than her bed, so I can relate to that familiar scene.

Hugs to ol' Harvs, bless 'im.
