Oh dear

Harvey had a funny turn this morning.

We took him to the vet who did blood tests that all came back normal. The only thing she could find was a weak pulse so she's given him pills to improve his circulation.

He is very unconfident now about standing or walking and hasn't moved all afternoon more than a couple of feet when he was persuaded to.

He's thirteen and a half. 'Hmm, a good age,' everyone says when you tell them. What they mean is, 'He's a big dog and he's done well to last this long and will be gone soon.'

But not yet. Please.

We will have to keep Miss Bouncy well away from Harvs, then. Poor babes, it's heartbreaking, but he is still full of happiness isn't he?

And the gentlest dog you could ever hope to meet.

13 years isn't very long, is it? Oh, what a bummer it is having a dog.

I am sorry, Liz. I think it's really sad when anyone (animals included) close to you begin to show the signs of wear and tear. People often don't know what to say so come out with the usual well-meaning platitudes when all that is really required is a listening ear and maybe a bit of sympathy. I hope Harvey is around for a while yet.

Love to you all.

Sometimes knowing a natural end is on the horizon is harder to bear than a sudden ending. I am sorry Harvey is under the weather but I know he's loved...and I bet he knows that better than any of us Liz.
